How to use the keyboard test
- Select the Windows or Mac layout that matches your keyboard.
- Click the keyboard test area, then press and release each physical key. Registered keys remain highlighted.
- Hold several keys together to check simultaneous input. Use Reset Test to start again.
READ YOUR RESULTS
Understanding your results
A highlighted key means the browser received its key event. Last Key shows the character or action, while Key Code identifies the physical key position. Keys Down counts keys currently held; Max Rollover records the largest simultaneous combination observed in this session.
A key that does not light up is not automatically broken. Fn keys, media controls and operating-system shortcuts may be handled before the browser receives them. The displayed layout uses US key positions; legends on other language layouts can differ.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work with a MacBook keyboard?
Yes. Choose Mac to display Command, Option and Mac-style labels. macOS may reserve some shortcuts and function-key actions, so not every physical key is observable in a browser.
Can this test prove that a keyboard has no ghosting?
It can show the combinations that reach the browser. Try the combinations you actually use; a successful sample does not certify every possible key combination.
