How to use the touchpad test
- Move the pointer across the test area using your trackpad.
- Try a left click and a right click using your system's configured gestures.
- Scroll vertically and horizontally. If your browser exposes pinch gestures, try a pinch inside the area. A zoom signal can also come from Ctrl + mouse wheel.

Understanding your results
This tool reports pointer and wheel events delivered to the page. It helps you check whether movement and clicks are reaching the browser and whether scrolling responds in the expected direction.
A browser cannot reliably distinguish a mouse from a trackpad for every event. Scrolling may be reported as a wheel event, and system-level three- or four-finger gestures may never reach the page. Use the trackpad itself when interpreting the results.
Troubleshooting your touchpad test
Multi-finger gestures do not appear
Desktop switching and other system gestures can be intercepted before reaching the browser. A pinch may appear as a modified wheel event. Compare another application before diagnosing the trackpad.

Frequently asked questions
Why does a multi-finger gesture do nothing here?
Some gestures switch desktops or control the operating system. Those gestures may be intercepted before the browser can observe them.
Can I use an external trackpad?
Yes. A connected external trackpad can generate the same pointer and scrolling events as a built-in laptop trackpad.
How to test a MacBook trackpad or Windows touchpad
Use the trackpad itself, not a connected mouse. First move slowly across the area, then compare a physical click, a tap and scrolling. Reset between comparisons. The observations below are examples to interpret, not results from a tested device.

This page cannot measure Force Touch pressure, haptic strength, physical dead zones or the number of fingers used. Ctrl + mouse-wheel input can resemble a pinch. “Zoom / pinch signal” reports that ambiguous browser event, not proof of a pinch gesture.
